VSCO needed a motion principles guide that external creative partners could actually use: something that maintained brand consistency without flattening the creativity that makes VSCO feel like VSCO.
The concept came from the photography process itself. Transitions that feel like flipping through a contact sheet. Subtle flickers and gentle pans that echo looking back through your own work. Motion that feels like memory rather than performance.
I designed the system in Figma, developed the storyboards, then built four After Effects templates: Creator Sessions, Preset Launches, Pro Spotlights, and Selects. The deliverable is a Figma file that links directly to each template, so partners can work within the language without needing to reconstruct it from scratch.
